Kannur International Airport Limited, incorporated in December 2009, is an unlisted public limited company promoted by the Government of Kerala to build, own and operate Kannur International Airport, at Mattannur, about 25 km from Kannur City. This will be the second greenfield airport in Kerala, being built on Public Private Partnership model in an area of about 2,000 acres. Kannur International Airport will be operational in 2018, becoming the 4th international airport in Kerala, the only State in the country to have 4 international airports.

Kannur, also known as Cannanore, is a city and a Municipal Corporation in Kannur district. Sharing the borders with Western Ghats in the east, Lakshadweep sea in the west, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts in the south, and Kasaragod in the north, Kannur opens up a vast horizon of tourism. A strong and rich influence of culture, history and traditions can be seen in Kannur along with great military importance given. One of the 62 military cantonments in India and Asia's largest Indian Naval Academy is in Kannur.
